Thinking of tying the knot in style, or know someone who might be? Whether your vision is classic or runs to the avant-garde, QAGOMA offers three stunning venues for standout weddings.

You know the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA) as a Brisbane riverside landmark, home to exquisite artworks and awe-inspiring exhibitions. You may have sampled some award-winning fare at GOMA Restaurant and stayed Up Late to take in Brisbane’s sparkling nightlife. But did you know that the Gallery’s next masterpiece could be your very own big day? Across its two acclaimed riverfront sites, QAGOMA offers three picture-perfect venues to suit wedding receptions from the grand to the intimate.

Featuring a flexible range of in-house catering and styling options, the Gallery’s all-inclusive packages allow you to embrace the creative possibility of our venues and entrust our professional team with the finer details. For medium- to large-scale weddings, QAGOMA offers two world-class event spaces — the elegant Watermall and glamorous Roof Terrace — while our luxe-yet-laid-back GOMA Restaurant suits more intimate receptions.

The grand Watermall in the Queensland Art Gallery (QAG) is a local architectural treasure, with soaring three-storey ceilings and a dynamic rotation of dramatic Australian and international works of art. A path set over the central water feature provides the perfect walkway for an unforgettable entrance. Up to 200 guests can banquet in style in the Watermall, with pre-reception drinks in the Sculpture Courtyard and exclusive after-hours gallery viewings at QAG. A timeless space that lends itself to transformation, the Watermall offers limitless options for table settings, styling, band and dancefloor — a truly magical space to celebrate all night long.

A few steps away, the Gallery of Modern Art’s (GOMA) Roof Terrace provides a gorgeous covered outdoor setting, with sparkling 180-degree views of the city, Brisbane River, Kurilpa Bridge and beyond. Accessed by private lift, guests watch the lights of the city twinkle over the river from a quintessentially Queensland balcony. Accommodating up to 200 guests (160 banquetstyle or 200 cocktail), the versatile Roof Terrace lets you get the party started, with room to tailor table settings, decorations, furniture and the dancefloor. A large picture window offers a view onto the ever-changing gallery within, while GOMA itself lights up at dusk with James Turrell’s energetic work Night Life 2018 (illustrated).

For intimate receptions, GOMA Restaurant — a chic venue overlooking Brisbane River and the William Jolly Bridge — is an epicurean dream suited to 30–80 guests (up to 50 banquet-style or 80 cocktail). Upstairs, the loft lounge allows the happy couple or wedding party to steal a private moment before making a formal entrance into the main reception space.

GOMA Restaurant’s contemporary indoor space offers an award-winning dining experience. Outside, on the spacious timber-decked terrace, your guests can mingle for pre-reception drinks or dance the night away to your band or DJ.

With a culinary team of more than 100 professional staff working across QAGOMA’s in-house restaurant and catering services, and our emphasis on sourcing the freshest local seasonal produce, our mouth‑watering event menus wow guests of all palates. (In 2022, GOMA Restaurant was listed as a Top 10 Queensland Restaurant by Gourmet Traveller and ranked #7 of Queensland’s best restaurants in QWeekend’s Delicious 100.)
