Brisbane born artist Milly Dent is one of the talented artisans featured in our QAGOMA Stores. Dent seeks to re-imagine daily routine and challenge conventional expectations of tableware, her work being both utilitarian and sculptural. Dent explores the relationship between fluid and static, pure and damaged, porcelain allows Dent to understand and push her practice to its limits, creating work that appears heavy and strong, yet delicate and soft. Dent’s handcrafted ceramic goods are made using small-scale production methods, along with distinctive marbling and geometric pattern work. Inspired by the natural world, her vessels invariably display a whirlpool of inky blues frozen in the fluidity that they are created.
QAGOMA stocks a range of cups, bowls and plates with prices ranging from $50-$150. Only available onsite at the QAG Store.
The QAGOMA Store has three retail outlets — two at the Queensland Art Gallery (QAG) at each entrance, and also at the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA). Together they specialise in high-quality books on today’s most exciting, challenging and influential contemporary artists, designers, history and design. A sophisticated selection of design objects, contemporary art merchandise, gifts and a stunning range of jewellery by local, Australian and international designers with a handmade focus are also a highlight.
